Founded in 1961, Lauremont School is committed to fostering the academic, social and emotional growth of its students through personalized education and an emphasis on development. The school combines the frameworks of the Montessori and International Baccalaureate pedagogies to provide students the foundation to be future ready for an ever-changing world.

Decades of future thinking

Our History

Founded in 1961 by Helma Trass, Lauremont School has grown into a strong independent school with a vibrant history of change and future thinking. The school had its humble beginnings in the basement of Beth El Synagogue, located at 1415 Don Mills Road in Toronto, with a first class of only 12 students. Lauremont School now spans across two beautiful campuses in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Lauremont School is accredited by the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS), Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators (CCMA) and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). Lauremont School is also a member of the Conference of Independent Schools of Ontario (CIS Ontario), and the Upper School is an Ontario Ministry Inspected School.

Faculty & Staff

The faculty and staff at Lauremont School bring a wealth of diverse experiences and expertise, creating a dynamic and supportive learning environment for our students. Our faculty lead by example, coaching various sports teams, directing school plays and participating in community service initiatives alongside students. This involvement extends the students’ learning beyond the classroom and helps develop perseverance, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Our Campuses

Lauremont School, located in Richmond Hill, Ontario, features two modern campuses. The Lower School, at Bayview Avenue and Highway 407, offers the Montessori programs from Toddler to Grade 6. Its open, light-filled classrooms and outdoor facilities create a vibrant learning environment. The Upper School, at Bayview Avenue and Elgin Mills Road East, includes Grades 7 to 12 enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. This campus boasts a full-size gym, contemporary dining hall, and spacious areas for study and socializing, fostering both academic and personal growth.
