Our Program

The Children’s House program at Lauremont School offers a nurturing and stimulating environment for our learners, laying the foundation for their future academic success. Designed for children ages 3 to 6, the program emphasizes the development of independence, critical thinking and social skills. With a focus on hands-on learning and self-directed activity, students engage with carefully curated Montessori materials that encourage exploration and discovery.

In the classroom, our teachers guide children through activities that promote cognitive, emotional and social development. The mixed-age classrooms encourage collaborative learning and leadership, fostering a strong sense of community.

The Children’s House program is uniquely structured to enhance a child’s natural curiosity and love for learning, making it an excellent fit for those who thrive in a supportive and enriching environment.

Children’s House Curriculum

The Children’s House program establishes an excellent foundation for students to develop greater thoughtfulness and independence as they continue their journey towards becoming capable, lifelong learners.

Language development focuses on oral language skills, listening skills, writing and reading comprehension.

Cultural activities help students discover ideas and concepts in geography, history, botany, zoology and the sciences.

Practical Life emphasizes self-care, care for the environment, grace and courtesy.

In Math, children will learn to count quantities, identify numerals, sequence numbers, and build a strong foundation in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

The Sensorial area enhances the children’s ability to identify and understand concepts such as size, shape, colour, taste and sound through the Montessori materials in the classroom.

The Children’s House 1 program, tailored for three-year-olds, adheres to the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA). Beyond the Montessori curriculum, half-day students enjoy outdoor play and a morning snack, while full-day students benefit from two hours of outdoor play, a rest period, daily snacks, and lunch. The students also receive instruction in French, mindfulness and physical education from subject specialists.

The Children’s House 2/3 program, for our four and five-year-olds, provides a similar enriched Montessori experience. These students also receive instruction in art, French, mindfulness, music and physical education. from subject specialists, ensuring a well-rounded educational foundation.

Love of learning. That would be the greatest outcome for any child in the Children’s House program.
