Toddler

The Toddler Program provides a nurturing educational experience that fosters independence, language development and motor movement during a child’s critical and formative first three years.

The Beginning of Discovery

The first three years of a child’s life are the most formative. During this period, children absorb innumerable impressions from their environment which influence their physical, intellectual and emotional development.

The Toddler Program creates an engaging environment that fosters the development of young minds as they start to create their own identity and discover their sense of self. This is supported by an abundance of activities and Montessori materials.

Nurturing Our Future

For many of our Lauremont students, the Toddler program is the entry point to our learning culture. Each day we guide our toddlers in:

Practical Life such as using a spoon, a broom or buttons.

Manipulative work to develop and strengthen a pincer grip which is necessary for future writing.

Language development using materials such as vocabulary cards, songs, books and poems.

Sensory work such as food preparation, cloth washing, finger painting and exploring the stereognostic bags.

Gross motor development in our playroom and playground where toddlers play with sand, water, balls and climbing equipment.

Independence as the children learn to dress and undress themselves, eat independently, care for the environment and toilet themselves.

As our children transition into the school, we focus on their needs individually. Our phase in process is gradual and differs from child to child.
