Upper School

Students at the Upper School participate in the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, a robust pedagogical approach that sets students up for success in their post-secondary life.

Grades 7-12

An IB Finish

Lauremont School is an IB World School that offers both the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP) from Grades 7 to 12. Cultivating a full spectrum of human capabilities, the IB focuses on student-led inquiry, a balanced academic program and active citizenship. The programme’s pedagogical philosophy complements the Montessori approach in our Lower School, and helps build a pathway to success as our students complete their secondary school journey.

Upper School students develop traits and skills essential for success in a complex and interconnected world, such as creative problem solving, open mindedness, commitment to others and the ability to adopt multiple perspectives.

Two Diploma Advantage

The Ontario Ministry of Education sets  the curriculum and content for each of the courses, while the IB programme both enriches and guides how the content is taught.

As a result, students graduating from Grade 12 receive both the IB Diploma and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

IB Journey Support

Students at the Upper School are supported in many ways to succeed and thrive within the IB curriculum.

Effective Learning Environment

Small classes encourage student interaction so that communication, socializing and collaboration are inextricably woven into every course.

Learning Strategy

Our learning centre invites students to participate in self-guided and group-related learning activities outside of the classroom. The learning strategies team devotes itself to the success of every student.

Advisory Program

Our advisory program provides students with a dedicated teacher who functions as their advocate, champion and friend.

University Ready Students

Around the world, the IB is widely regarded as exceptional academic preparation. Research indicates that IB graduates have a higher acceptance rate at university, perform better once they are there, and are more likely to advance to graduate school.

Our students enter a multitude of career fields, including medicine, engineering, sciences, commerce and finance, design, architecture and many more.
