Nests & Houses

Inclusion and belonging are at the heart of all our co- and extra-curricular programs. The Nest and House system represents our commitment to ensuring that every student can develop a strong sense of community and campus spirit. Students participate in a diverse blend of athletic, community service and other activities through the year within their Nest or House and make their individual contributions to the success of the group.

How We Organize Ourselves

Nests (Elementary)

Houses (Upper School)

The Elementary Nest system is designed to create a strong sense of community and belonging among students in Grades 1 to 6. Students remain in the same Nest throughout their elementary years, fostering deep connections with their peers and teachers. The program promotes teamwork and collaboration through a variety of activities, including sports events, academic challenges, and community service projects. These experiences teach students the value of cooperation and prepare them for the House System at the Upper School, ensuring a smooth transition.

Leadership development is also a key focus of the Nest System. Designated Nest Captains are given the responsibility of organizing activities, leading assemblies, and representing their Nest in school events. These roles provide students with early leadership opportunities in a supportive and inclusive environment.

By participating in the Nest System, students not only enrich their educational experience but also learn important values that will serve them well beyond their time at Lauremont School.

The Upper School House system at Lauremont School is designed to build community and enhance school spirit through a focus on participation and inclusivity. Each student is assigned to one of four Houses, where they remain throughout their time at Lauremont, fostering long-term connections. Advisory groups are distributed among the four Houses, allowing for natural, healthy competition within each grade. The program offers a diverse range of activities, from athletic events to non-athletic challenges and community service opportunities, ensuring every student can contribute in a meaningful way.

Throughout the year, House activities, including Spirit Day events and intramural competitions, encourage teamwork. A point system tracks participation, reinforcing the importance of involvement over winning or losing. Leadership is cultivated through the appointment of House Captains, who mentor younger students and help guide their House to success, creating a supportive and dynamic environment for all students.
