Empowering Students for Lifelong Success
Elementary
Upper School
The Elementary guidance program plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for our students. We ensure that each child feels safe, supported, recognized, and heard, which is fundamental to their overall well-being and academic success.
Understanding the many external influences on young minds, we offer comprehensive academic, social, and emotional counseling. Our goal-setting and social-emotional support initiatives help students navigate the rapid changes they face, fostering resilience and a positive mindset. Through our carefully designed guidance programs, we integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) with curriculum expectations and reflective activities.
Our guidance counselors assist with student development plans, working closely with parents, teachers, and administrators to create a collaborative support network. We offer lessons and resources that teach wellness, mental health, and how to maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment. By addressing mental health proactively and breaking stigmas, we help students develop healthy mindsets and actions.
Supporting the emotional and social growth of our students is a priority. We emphasize understanding and expressing emotions through mindfulness, peer-to-peer discussions, and empathy cultivation. These activities are essential for developing resilience and emotional intelligence.
Our Upper School offers comprehensive guidance support, including counseling services, classroom curriculum, program delivery, and school-community partnerships. We embrace a holistic approach to student and family well-being, ensuring each student has access to a dedicated guidance counselor available for drop-in or scheduled individual and group counseling sessions. These sessions cover a range of topics such as social-emotional support, academic counseling and goal setting, stress management, healthy relationships, and post-secondary planning and application processes.
In Grades 7, 8, and 9, our Social, Emotional, and Ethical Curriculum helps students develop essential social-emotional skills through classroom instruction. Themes include belonging, compassion, resilience, well-being, emotions, and maintaining healthy relationships.
Grade 10 students engage in a Careers course focusing on self-mastery, understanding post-secondary pathways, and developing self-skills and community connections.
For Grades 11 and 12, our DP Guidance program prepares students for post-secondary success through workshops, individual and family counseling, and the development of positive life skills, stress management, and adaptive coping strategies. This program emphasizes university and college preparation, ensuring students are well-equipped for their future endeavours.
