Peter Hill
September 26, 2025
As the start to the new year unfolds, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce new faculty members to the community. While we were sad to see some long standing teachers leave the school, we are extremely excited to welcome our new teachers into the Lauremont School family and we hope you will get to know them over the course of the fall term.

Meghan Donnelly
Growing up in Ontario, Meghan began her career over a decade ago in the UK teaching math and computer science and becoming a GCSE examiner. After returning to Canada, she taught briefly at CDS, Havergal and SCS before moving to B.C. and working in schools on the west coast and tutoring IB students. With a BMath from Waterloo and BEd from Queen’s, we are delighted to welcome Meghan back home to Ontario and to Lauremont School in particular.

Jonathan Harris
After serving last year as a supply teacher, Jonathan will be teaching MYP English and Humanities this year. He has a long background in teaching after completing his BA, BEd and MA from UofT. Jonathan has taught English, History and Geography at several schools across his career as well as being a Principal at Fieldstone, Leo Baeck and Rowntree Montessori in the GTA. We welcome Jonathan’s diverse expertise at Lauremont!

John Kim
After serving as an Associate Teacher last year, John will be taking on a full time role teaching MYP English and Drama this year. John completed a BA from Grinnel College in Iowa in 2018 and his BEd at the University of Alberta. He taught English at the University of Toronto this summer and has worked and taught ELL and drama students in a variety of roles in the early part of his career. It is exciting to have John return to Lauremont in this full time capacity.

Derek Lam
Derek is not new to Lauremont having been a supply teacher at the Upper School in the 2016-17 year. He has since spent a year abroad in China and the last 7 years at The York School teaching Phys Ed. and Guidance. He will be taking on Middle School guidance teaming with Ms. O’Brien and helping steward our younger students as they navigate Lauremont. Derek brings expertise in many sports, particularly volleyball, and looks forward to contributing to our co-curricular program.

Julia Luo
Julia is a recent graduate of the B.Ed. program at Queen’s University and will be joining us as an Associate Teacher. She holds an Honours BSc in Science from Queen’s with a focus in Biochemistry and has certification in French too. She has a strong interest in music with singing, cello and Grade 10 Conservatory piano expertise, as well as a passion for athletics. She won a Junior Gold medal in the Canadian Ultimate Frisbee Championships in 2019!

Joyce Ma
Joyce holds an MEd from OISE as well as an Honours BA from UofT in East Asian Studies, English and Classical Civilizations and joins us in the role of Associate Teacher. Last year, she was at Trinity College in Port Hope working as a Junior Faculty and previously spent 2 years at UCC working as a Supply teacher and Teacher Intern in their primary division. Joyce has a strong interest in the outdoors, coaching and playing badminton, and is proficient in several languages.

Isabella Morency
After spending 6 weeks with us last spring, Isabella has joined our Languages department teaching MYP and DP French. She is a proud product of an immersion French program in Ontario and completed her BA and BEd in French studies from York University’s Glendon campus. Isabella has great interest in drama and music and will be involved in our drama productions as well as choir this year.

Fernanda Serroul
Fernanda is no stranger to us returning after being away for a year at Lakefield College. Fernanda is super excited to be back at Lauremont School, to start a new Casa Serroul, and re-engage with teaching the IB, something she sorely missed. Fernanda is looking forward to re-engaging with the cross-country and track and field teams as well the Environmental Sustainability club and we are delighted to have her back with us!

Megan Torrance
Megan is a graduate of OISE after recently completing her MEd and Bachelor’s in Kinesiology from UofT. While there, Megan ran track and competed intercollegiately, emerging as captain of the team throughout her MEd. Megan has been a Head Camp Counsellor at Variety Village and has worked at several sports camps in a similar capacity. We are excited to have Megan at Lauremont School as she joins the Phys Ed. department.
I know you will join me in welcoming these talented faculty members to Lauremont!
