At Lauremont School, the MYP Personal Project Fair is more than an exhibition, it is a testament to the IB values of inquiry, action and impact. This annual event highlights months of research, exploration and creativity, showcasing how students apply their learning to forge meaningful connections with the world. It reflects intellectual curiosity, problem-solving and a commitment to making a principled impact on the community.
This year’s fair stood out for the depth and diversity of projects, each driven by a strong sense of purpose. Students explored a range of topics, from mental health awareness through painting to developing apps that enhance seniors’ physical training. Other projects included book writing on philosophy and women’s rights, research on cochlear implants and their connection to music and studies in space exploration. These projects help demonstrate how academic learning translates into real-world impact. Some students took innovative approaches, like integrating 3D cross-stitching techniques or teaching architectural concepts through LEGO, underscoring how creativity and problem-solving span disciplines.

One of the evening’s most compelling aspects was the innovative use of technology and engaging presentation methods. Interactive websites, iPads and 3D printing brought research to life, adding a tangible dimension to abstract ideas. High-quality photography and website design elevated projects with a professional touch, while interactive presentations sparked meaningful discussions. A stage performance by MYP Prefect Kody Y., featuring his EDM-inspired ballad, captured the unifying power of the arts. As peers swayed their phone lights in support, the moment became a moving display of camaraderie, creativity and the strong community spirit at Lauremont.
Beyond showcasing impressive projects, the fair made IB Action visible. The Personal Project is not just about producing a final product, it is about applying knowledge to effect change at both personal and societal levels. Whether pioneering new artistic techniques, addressing social justice issues or leveraging technology to solve global challenges, students demonstrated that learning is most impactful when it extends beyond the classroom. Their work embodied key IB principles such as international-mindedness, self-management, and critical thinking, reinforcing the importance of student agency in shaping the future.

This event reflected Lauremont School’s identity as a world-class IB institution, where education fosters globally minded, action-oriented individuals. The impact of student work extends far beyond the fair, as projects often serve as stepping stones to future endeavours, potentially evolving into Extended Essays, Internal Assessments, or meaningful CAS initiatives. The school’s dedication to cultivating an environment where students can explore, create and take initiative has been instrumental in the event’s success.
Faculty leadership played a crucial role in ensuring the fair was not just an academic exercise but an inspiring showcase of student potential. Through mentorship and guidance, teachers helped students refine ideas and present them effectively, demonstrating how inquiry-driven education leads to deeper understanding and real-world impact.
With each passing year, the fair raises the bar for excellence and innovation. As we reflect on this year’s successes, we remain committed to empowering students to push boundaries, challenge assumptions, and take meaningful action. The future is bright at Lauremont, and our students are ready to lead the way.
