As the start to the new year unfolds, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce new faculty members to the community. While we were sad to see some long standing teachers leave the school, we are extremely excited to welcome our new teachers into the Lauremont family and we hope you will get to know them over the course of the fall term.

I know you will join me in welcoming these talented faculty members to Lauremont!

Akanksha Gupta

A seasoned IB educator, Akanksha has worked in two IB international schools in India, and comes to Lauremont School after moving to Canada with her husband. She holds a BSC and MSC in Chemistry from the University of Delhi and is looking forward to the potential of starting a table tennis club here at Lauremont.

Carey Lam

Carey comes to Lauremont School after spending the past 5 years at an independent school in Toronto where he was teaching a combination of science, tech/design and phys ed courses. Carey holds an undergraduate Kinesiology degree as well as his BEd and MEd, all from York University. An avid hockey player and coach, Carey brings his kinesiology background and passion for the Middle School learner to Lauremont School.

Lisa Kresky

Lisa comes to Lauremont after working as a learning strategist for the past five years at another independent school. Prior to that, she spent the better part of a decade in Ranklin Inlet wearing many hats as a teacher, guidance counsellor, special resource support and vice-principal. With a Masters in Counselling Psychology, MEd and PhD from Western University, Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge and a lifelong love of learning to her role with us as our Lead Learning Strategist.

Aileen Li

Aileen is a passionate math and computer science educator who has most recently been teaching for the past two years at an independent school in the west end of the GTA. She has taught all levels of math across 11 years and, not surprisingly, is a robotics enthusiast. She holds a Masters of Engineering Science from Warwick University in the UK, a Bachelor’s degree from Nanjing University in China and her BEd from Brock.

Sonia Masih

Sonia has been an educator for 20 years teaching the Middle School learner Science, Humanities and Math in both the Peel Board and various independent schools in the GTA. She holds a BSc from the University of Toronto, an M.A. in History and a Law degree from the University of Ottawa, as well as her BEd from UofT. Sonia is currently pursuing her M.A. in Theory and Policy studies in Education at OISE/UT. She is a veritable lifelong learner and a true IB student herself.

Penny Yu
Penny brings over 27 years of experience teaching Mandarin and English in diverse international settings, including a decade at Oulu International School, an IB school in Finland. She holds a PhD in English Linguistics and an M.A. in Translation and Interpreting. Penny has taught Mandarin and English to children and adults, serving as a teacher, professor, and interpreter. In addition, she is a researcher in Conversation Analysis, contributing to advancements in Human-Machine Interaction. You can explore her research here: ResearchGate Profile.
